School Board Meeting Tuesday, January 9th- Please attend!

The schoolboard will be discussing the Research Residencies at the upcoming Schoolboard meeting on Tuesday January 9th at 501 N Dixon St, at the District office. Unfortunately the agenda states that the Research Residencies will not be brought up until 8:50, so it's a bit late.

The key agenda times are as follows:

6:15- Student comments

7:20- Public comments

8:50- Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Residencies Trips/Schoolboard discussion

We would love support from as many families as possible during the student comment section and Public comment section to support those speakers, but the most critical segment is during the DLI immersion board discussion timing. Please prioritize as you need, but we would strongly request if you are only able to be there for a short portion, please try to arrive no later than 8:30 in case the agenda runs faster than expected.

Feel free to bring small, respectful signs and wear red if you are able, or just show up in support. We don't anticipate getting an answer at this meeting, but having a room full of supporters speaks volumes to the schoolboard and the superintendent.

The critical ask we are requesting at this time is to allow the Research Residencies to carry on as they have for the past 27 years. We ask them not reinterpret decades old rules (about no more than 5 days out of the classroom) and to engage with teachers and parent groups, and to acknowledge that this is a research trip, and as such, asking students and teachers to work over spring break is not equitable.

Finally, please share this message and request with every immersion family you know- past, present and future.
