Play a several different games using these Flash Cards created for Shu Ren.
An excellent tool to use over the Summer!
Game 1: Memory
The classic game of Concentration or Memory created using Chinese Characters to help your child learn and retain what they have learned in Kindergarten in this program.
Game 2: Lingo-Bingo!
One player (the parent) uses the deck of Memory Flash Cards to call out characters or pictures in Chinese. Or players may place cards face down in a pile and draw cards from the top. Players each use one of the 18 Bingo Decks that come in this package. Players place tokens (pennies) over characters/pictures as they are called out. When a player has all the items in a row (horizontally, diagonally or vertically) filled with tokens they Win!
Game 3: Snap! (2 players):
- Parent shows cards to kids one at a time or kids start by placing cards face down in a pile in the center.
- If kids playing with cards in center pile, players take turns turning cards over.
- The first player to shout out the name (In Chinese) of a card when turned over wins that card.
- If no one can say the name of the character/picture put the card at the bottom of the deck. Be sure to practice the name first!
- If two players tie place the card at the bottom of the deck to try it again later.
- When the deck is gone the player with the most cards Wins!
Game: Snap! (3 or more players):
- Deal out all the cards face down to all the players. Do not be concerned if the deal doesn't end evenly. Players should not look at their cards.
- Each player holds their cards face down or places their deck face down in front of them.
- Each player turns out the top from their deck face up in front of them at the same time.
- If any of the cards currently facing up mean the same thing then the player noticing that yells out "Snap!". That player must identify the matching pair by its Chinese name. If they are successful they win their current pile as well as the pile of the player who had the matching card. If that player can not say the name in Chinese the player to the left can try and so on until someone wins the hand.
- The player winning the cards places them face down at the bottom of their deck.
- All players begin play again by placing a card from the top of their deck face up in front of them at the same time.
- If a player has run out of cards, but still has a card face up in play, they may continue to yell "Snap" and re-enter the game if they win cards. If they are out of cards entirely, they are disqualified and the game continues.
- Forfeit one card to each player if you accidentally call out "Snap" when there was no match.
- Win the game by collecting all the cards from the other players.
Game 4: Ultimate Challenge Lingo-Bingo!
This game is a combination of Snap and Lingo-Bingo.
- Someone is chosen as the caller and holds all the Memory cards face down.
- Other players select a Bingo card.
- The caller shows the top card to players. The first player to call out the name of the card in Chinese wins the ability to use that card for Lingo-Bingo. If they have that item on their Bingo card they place a penny on it and take the card. If they do not have the item on their Bingo card the caller places the card at the bottom of the deck.
- If the players call out the name in a tie you can either let that card be available for all players who called it out to use on their Bingo card or place the card at the bottom of the deck to try it again later. (decide this before game play)
- The first player to get Lingo-Bingo wins!
Game 5: Go Fish!
- Using the Flash Cards players are delt 7 cards. If more than 3 players then 5 cards.
- Starting with the player to the left of the dealer players call out asking any other player in Chinese for a match to one of the cards in their hand.
- If the person asked does not have the cards asked for they tell them "Go Fish". Then the player whose turn it is draws a card from the deck in middle.
- If they receive the matching card they asked for they put the pair down face up and may take another turn. When the deck is all gone players count their matches. The player with the most matches Wins!
