IDEAS FOR ART PROJECTS:
IDEAS FOR CLASS GIFTS: It is suggested that the class seek donations from a business in the form of a gift certificate as a class gift. Parents venturing out to seek these may find business that are open to donating a small or large sum towards a gift certificate that can be donated for the auction at the Gala. The class may also make use of the money they've raised to add to the amount of the Gift Certificate. When asking for a donation, ask the business to give whatever they want. The donation forms (you can email April Mar to request a donation form) have Shu Ren’s non-profit tax-ID number on them, and the business gets to use the donation as a tax deduction. There is also a tri-fold brochure that has information about Shu Ren in it for the business (if they want it. Even if they don’t, it’s nice to offer it). We will also be “advertising” their business in our online catalog, and I believe this year will be able to include a link to their website (if they have one). Usually when a business donates they will give you a gift certificate (not a card) with the specified amount on it. Remember when you’re asking for a donation, that you are not asking for yourself but for Shu Ren and the kids. It makes asking a whole lot easier. Ask for a donation of whatever they can give. Sometimes they say no, sometimes it’s not so much, but sometimes they really can surprise you! Once you get over the initial hurdle of asking for a donation, it’s easy (and fun!). Below are some ideas of places to look!
