All families that need financial assistance are encouraged to apply. Since 2004, when Shu Ren held its first Gala/Auction to raise money for the 8th-grade academic trip to China, our goal has been to make this trip affordable for all families. Toward that end, the Shu Ren board established a separate reserve fund for scholarships. The amount available to students going on the 2008 CRR is about $4,400. This money will be divided among the scholarship applicants. When filling out the financial application, please consider how much money you can contribute towards your child’s trip, and how much financial help you really need. Please don't apply for more money than you need to make the Research Residency possible for your child. A Scholarship Team comprised of the lead teachers on the CRR (Adrianne Bee and Kojo Hakam), the board president of Shu Ren (Tom DeMeo), and the principal and/or assistant principal of Hosford Middle School (Kevin Bacon and Verenice Gutierrez) will assign scholarships based on need.
